How long have you been a member of FITNESS 535?
I have been with Fitness 535 since June 2014.

How did you get involved in F-535?
My friend, Amanda Peake Glover (APG), harassed me into trying boot camp at 535. She said, ‘You’re gonna love it’, and she was right. That would make her smile – since she always thought she was right.

Tell us about your sports and fitness background?
My sports background includes intramural softball through high school and college, and running. An Achilles injury sidelined my ability to run, and I had to change the way I thought about my fitness.

Take us back to your first WOD… what was it, and how did it feel? What is your favorite / least favorite WOD/movement?
My first WOD experience was a warm-up of air squats to “Swing Sally”.  After that I believe it included some running and slam balls, but I honestly don’t remember because I couldn’t sit down for two days after, all because of Sally.   My favorite movement is the power clean, because I feel strong when I get it right. My least favorite movement is the snatch, because I get in my own head, and my inability to make gains in that movement keeps me up at night – yes, It’s that bad.

What is your strongest attribute or favorite workout?
My favorite workout would have to be Karen at this point, because I actually was competitive during our last run of this WOD, and it shocked me.  I’m still waiting for Coach to update the Box Board…..

When did you realize that F-535 was right for you?
I knew F-535 was right for me when people started harassing me, yelling at me, and laughing with me. The community is what keeps me coming back.

What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting?
I lost 40 pounds the 1st year. This 2nd year I’ve maintained my weight loss, and I’ve lost an additional 2-3 inches in all major areas. My LDL has dropped significantly, and my HDL went up by 10.  However, I do find that my pants are tight in the quads…price you have to pay.

What is your favorite healthy food & “cheat” food?
My favorite healthy food is Avocado. I’d eat it on anything.  My cheat food would be Pizza, or Doughnuts covered in Ice Cream. Or a Hostess Cake Chocolate Zinger from the nearest Gas Station. Hard to Choose.

What is something that we don’t know about you?
I once wrote a novella.

How long have you been a member of FITNESS 535?
I have been with Fitness 535 since November 2015.

How did you get involved in F-535?
My friend Jana invited me to try 535. With her “support” aka get up and let’s go; I have seen my body transform into a much healthier me. I have a lot still to work on, but I do see results. I came and have been supported and accepted as part of the family. 535 is very unique and the participants are wonderful.

Tell us about your sports and fitness background?
My sports background is mainly in supporting USC athletics, as in attending Football games. 535 changed the way I think about exercise and weight lifting. I lifted in high school and loved it. Now I’m lifting again and can see results and it feels great.

Take us back to your first WOD… what was it, and how did it feel? What is your favorite / least favorite WOD/movement?
I don’t like burpees. I like the weight lifting the best. Every WOD makes me wonder why I return, but the support of the individuals at the Gym and the friendships have made this journey worth every ache.

What is your strongest attribute or favorite workout?
My favorite workout would be the strength work outs that include the Deadlift or the Bench Press. I like to compare myself to the guys I know that can’t lift what I can lift.  For a guy to do Cross Fit, people see them as athletic. For the women I know that do Cross Fit, they are superhuman and amazing! They defeat all the odds.

When did you realize that F-535 was right for you?
I knew F-535 was right for me when Amanda supported me through the Overhead Lunges, PJ ran with me on an 800 meter run, Autuam pushed me to complete a WOD, Benji and Trey supported me through the Calorie Rowing Challenge, and Jana kept telling me to meet her there! I know this is just a few, but through Bo and Todd’s coaching techniques, I have learned what a GREAT gym is like. The Gym rules and expectations for each member is like no other.

What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting?
I’ve lost almost 35 lbs since starting at F-535 and my cholesterol has gone from 220 to 164. I have seen great improvements in my muscle tone too. I’ve completed a 5k and continue to see improvements every week.

What is your favorite healthy food & “cheat” food?
My favorite healthy food is Cauliflower Crusted Pizza. My cheat food would be Cake.

What is something that we don’t know about you?
I’m a single mom that rides a Harley! And that loving ourselves should come first, but life gets in the way sometimes!

Don’t really care for some of the stretches honestly. I really don’t have a least favorite. I just work with it and keep moving.

What is your strongest attribute or favorite workout?
Love challenges in F-535 is just that… Loving it.

When did you realize that F-535 was right for you?
Because everyone works together, they push you and I get a complete workout.

I have been with Fitness 535 since November 2014.

How did you get involved in F-535?
Our friends from soccer the Campbell's invited us to give it a try since they always saw us running during our kids practices. We came and got hooked!

Tell us about your sports and fitness background?
I love to run, and enjoyed working out at the YMCA. I was active in high school where I played softball and volleyball. Now I try to get to F-535  as much as possible with my crazy schedule.

Take us back to your first WOD… what was it, and how did it feel? What is your favorite / least favorite WOD/movement?
Our first workout we met Derrick on a Saturday partner WOD.  My husband and I teamed up as we do often and boy were we exhausted by the end. It was lots of running that day!  But we came back and never left through all the pain it's been very rewarding physically and mentally.  My favorite movement is dead lifts and clean/jerks.  I can't stand overhead squats!

What is your strongest attribute or favorite workout?
My willingness to try something new, even if I'm not so sure about it!

When did you realize that F-535 was right for you?
After day 1 it felt like a community and loved how everyday is something different.

What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting?
Everything has changed with my body, I can do things I never thought and eating so much better with the classes Bo has given I have more energy.

What is your favorite healthy food & “cheat” food?
I have found I love making kale chips! Fav cheat food is ice cream from Chick-Fil-a.

What is something that we don’t know about you?
I was adopted when I was 5yrs old to an awesome family and was blessed to have them take me into their lives, and how crazy that before they got me I new my future cousins and aunt. We went to the same church with my foster family.

Funny fact: I have a tendency if you listen closely sometimes to say misplaced words like telling my husband to (look under the ironing board) when he asked me where the cast iron skillets are at! Obviously I ment in the stove!!

What do you do for a profession:
I am a Business Analyst for Universal Conversion Technologies.

How long have you been a member of FITNESS 535?
Since opening day!

How did you get involved in F-535?
Ann Prince came to my home to evaluate my son after he was released from rehab.  She talked me into trying out her crossfit box.  I was hooked day 1.  When my coach, Bo Seamon, left to open F-535 I followed him.

Tell us about your sports and fitness background?
I’ve always been active.  I played basketball, softball, volleyball and ran track in high school.  I worked out at home for years on my own.  I did P90X, Insanity, weight lifting, running and my own version of crossfit (which was nowhere near real crossfit).  Now I go to F-535 Monday through Friday and on Saturday when I can and I run as many obstacle course races as I can fit into my schedule.

Take us back to your first WOD… what was it, and how did it feel? What is your favorite / least favorite WOD/movement?
Helen was the 1st WOD I did and it’s also my favorite.  I’ve PRed Helen every time I’ve done it.  I remember the 1st time I RXed it.  I was so proud of myself for getting through 36 RX pullups.  Since then I’ve RXed Angie several times.  Now I’m trying to get my name on the board.  My least favorite WOD is Nancy because I’m terrible at OHS.  I’m not very fond of Karen either.  That one keeps me up at night.

What is your strongest attribute or favorite workout?
I would say my strongest attribute is my determination.

When did you realize that F-535 was right for you?
Day 1.  I love my coach and my crew!  I’ve been pushed beyond my limits, I’ve worked harder than ever, I’m encouraged daily, I’m believed in and I’ve made lifelong friends that I look forward to seeing every day.  F-535 is family.

What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting?
I’m in the best shape I’ve ever been in my life.  I’m lifting heavier weights, I’m faster, I’m more flexible and my body is leaner and more defined.

What is your favorite healthy food & “cheat” food?
Healthy Food – Sweet Potato Noodles with Bolognese Sauce (Thank you Bri!)
Cheat Food - Pizza

What is something that we don’t know about you?
(Interesting fact, accomplishment you are proud of, obscure/unique talent, funny story, etc.)  I have competed in 11 Spartan races (5 sprints, 3 supers, 3 beasts).  I have competed in 1 Battlefrog race and 1 Superhero race and 6 mud runs.  In November I’ll complete my 3rd Spartan Trifecta.  That’s all 3 Spartan races in a calendar year (2013, 2014 and 2015).  On my 48th Birthday I competed in the World Championship OCR which you have to qualify to run.  I completed 48 of 53 obstacles.  In my age group I finished 10th of 32.  For all women regardless of age that finished the race with penalty I finished 64th out of 268.  It was the hardest race I’ve ever competed in both physically and mentally.  CrossFit and F-535 prepared me for these competitions.

Something you may not know, my 3 kids have the same birthday.

Something funny about me, I love climbing trees with them.
